Called into my nearest Holden dealer when we were in town yesterday to grab a couple of plastic clips for my wifes power window. We saw a poster for the Sandman and my van was parked outside their front door which got the attention of one of the salesmen, so I asked if they were getting one. The reply was that they hadn't ordered one yet(!) but if I wanted one they could order one for me. I asked for a brochure, they didn't have one. I asked for a price and availability of colours (and ute or wagon) and he couldn't help me either.

    Essentially, they had a poster......

    Totally underwhelming experience.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!

I rang the dealer before I arrived and told him no matter what it's coming back. Is this going to cost my left nut? Has anybody else had to do something similar? Again, don't buy this model ute.
Frosty this new law came into force in Australia, have a look at the link.

Apart from that the only thing you can rely on is the integrity of the car dealer to look after the customer. From the sound of it you have been loyal (as this is your 4th in a row) maybe they will come to the party.
    Good Luck

Thanks Wombat. That info is interesting. I can't call it a lemon, just a car with seats to suit a 7 year old child. The dealer has said he will make it right and wants me to stay as a customer. I was on my way to the airport when I decided I can't live with it, so away for a week then I will see what happens

That's what I'm thinking Rob, sign up for a Sandman (after being told they could order one in) and then being pushed into a SS ute or wagon because they don't have any sandmans left. I guess at the end of the day it's your choice...but it's a pity the system that shows availability of vehicles on the computer seems very inadequate!!!

All worked out ok. Told them I was looking at buying a car from their opposition and they managed to pull some strings and get me a car in.... Think Holden!!!

    Ha! There's a shock.
What was the angle they were trying to get by saying they couldn't get one?

I don't understand those guys. Went into Holden a couple years ago cause my sister was due to update her work car. Had an SSV ute and wanted a twin cab so went to check out the then new Colorado. It had been out a couple of days. They had 2 sold ones that they wouldn't even show us the exterior of and the demo was out on a 4 day test drive. Her boss had basically said "pick what you want, get a price, and I'll buy it". Could not for the life of us get a price out of the salesman.

Went down the road, drove an Amarok, and that was that.
