    Apprentice plumber Sunbury (vic) area

Hey guys trying something different I'm sick of kids filling in there centre link jobs cards and wasting my time
The last few apprentice I've had have been word of mouth and get good kids apply but last few times have advertised on local paper and face book community board and and had nothing but shit heads
So I'm looking for someone in the Sunbury Macedon rangers area for junior (17-21) plumbing apprenticeship

Pm resume or contact details to me
    Cheers Chris

But seriously robbo I have had plenty of experience with apprentices and times have changed. IMO if a lad is going to do an apprenticeship they should be in their first year at 14-15 yrs old. They go to school far too long these days (if they are going to do an apprenticeship). Nothing against school, but all you need for most trades is a bit of common sense and read and write and basic maths. It's too hard to teach them when they are older as they 'know everything ' and they dropout as apprenticeship wages weren't designed for twenty yr olds. When I was 19 I was a tradesman, married and had immigrated to another country. Can't see too many 19 yr olds doing that these days.

I have two apprentices (Electrician and Diesel Fitter) working for me and i think we are fairly lucky in the choices. The Diesel Fitter is in the traditional age bracket and is in his third year as an 18/19yo and gives us the shits the most. However he is still somewhat a kid and its our responsibility to help him to become an adult in industry (his mum wont ever do it). All that aside, we took this kid in via a scheme where we don't actually employ him direct. He does his time sheet each week and we get an invoice from the scheme company. Its a lot better administratively and you can pass him back in if needed. Maybe something to consider?

We have had apprentices for the past 20 or so years most have turned out great some stay and some go onto other things. We use a similar system called skillset which also does labour hire after they finish so I pay them and they do all the admin. We can hand them back if we get quiet too.
Rodney spends most of his time arranging and quoting jobs we have always worked together his building partner retired two years ago. It is getting harder to get jobs through council these days so many codes and compliances. However we have diverted a bit with doing pre purchase house inspections and scaffolding which gives us a good income and allows for sandman's to be restored. We employ 4 carpenters and a first year apprentice.

A good plumber will make good money but also a good plumber deserves every cent.
