Thanks guys, greatly appreciated. Great news. not bad for $700.
So What does these numbers mean then:
Trim: 1914-60A
Paint: 568-17778
Thanks Heaps.
Have you got some pics Ben? would love to see them, and some interior as well.....sounds like a bargain at that
Aquarius 17778 - 1914 paint code, and Decal which would have been on this van is DX5
60A is trimcode which is chamois and black vinyl
568 is a mystery but it is also on our Van somebody else maybe able to help with what that number means....
1914 is Holdens exterior trim code for Aquarius colour.
568 is the Dulon code for solid colour.... IE not metallic.
60A is Chamois trim and was available in all HX commercials so does not in itself confirm Sandman status....
The plate info basically is correct for a Sandman but you need to check it has courtesy light switches in the door jambs, full headlining etc.....
4/75 HJ XX7 Sandman Panelvan ... Persian Sand currently restoring
7/76 HX Monaro 4dr 308 4sp... Absinth Yellow and rusty as hell.. SOLD
3/77 HX Sandman Panelvan ... Absinth Yellow and rusty as hell .. SOLD
HX are a bugger to identify, as things that helped in HQ and HJ don't necessarily help in HX.
Your best identifiers will be the full length headlining attachment bits and an N66 wheel winch. Unfortunately a console and courtesy light switches don't help that much in HX as they were available on base model, but the headlining was extremely unlikely on a non-Sandman base model. Having a 1950kg GVW helps heaps too. I'd be 97% confident it is a Sandman.
Ok then, maybe a silly question but what is the N66 Wheel Winch?
N66 is the option code for GTS rims, and the winch is different. GTS rims were standard fitment to most Sandmans (late HZ got alloy N67 also used on HZ SL/E and WB), and as such it is a telltale in identifying.
