Dont think anyone knows that info would be good to know though for all colours
No total records of Sandmans built let alone specific colours or combinations.
Sounds like a good colour though.
I knew a bloke in Milperra (Sydney) back in about 1985 that had a Satin Mist HJ Sandman and wrote it off one night wrapping it around a power pole.
So that's 3 of the alleged 7 accounted for!
It never fails to amaze me the far out stories you here about cars.
I had a new hot water tank delivered yesterday and the delivery driver saw my HJ ute. He got all excited and asked me if it was a genuine GTS ute because he knows how rare they are.... He's only ever seen 2 before and his mate in Melbourne owns both of them!
I didn't have the heart to tell him that his mate was having a lend of him (or his mate hasn't got a clue), so I just told him it was a Kingswood. He looked at me and said " A Kingswood ute with a V8! Mate that's really rare!"
Anyway, the hot water tank is in and I'm waiting for it to warm up.......
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!
That is so funny Rob ,
It just amazises me at just how many people have no idea ,
Gts ute , isn't that just a sandman.
Wasn't that the idea from Holden ,a Gts optioned ute/van....

Exactly. The only thing you didn't get was a GTS badge in the steering wheel and on the body. A lot of people put them on though. Certainly looked better than a Belmont badge on a GTS guard!
I just bought that van magazine that's getting around the newsagencies at the moment with the ute mag in with it. The XY GT utes in that look so genuine you'd bet they were, but they were never made. Again, a lot of people built these things and even back in the 70's, so they've been around for so long that history sort of dictates the myth.
