Ben will not produce a report if he can not be 100% sure. "lost records". This is not 100% true. Its more a matter that no one in GMH knows how to access them... They are there....

Ben who does these reports knows what he is talking about. There is NO doubt about it.

I spoke to GMH customer assistance 1800 number a year or so ago, with details of a van I have, & when he heard the 8WM70 code he said "are you checking if its a sandman?" sarcastically like he spends all day doing this. When I got the report back, it said stuff all, I don't think it even confirmed completion date or original engine number, which is what I was after.

    cheers

GMH do not know how to use their own info. sadly.

Ben can confirm the engine number. Or with mine. I gave it a test. I knew the engine number and a few other things about my HZ GTS. I showed him the body and adr tag only. In return I got a report. Showing all info including the engine number I have for the GTS. I have never publisahed this anywhere. I was also told the place of original sale. date of sale etc etc. all line up to what the old bloke I brought it from told me. None of this was common knowledge. I had never put it on the net either some of this info.

As said. Ben knows his stuff. His reputation shows it.

I imagine that's why he was always after any tag information so they could at least estimate if hard to identify cars are anything special.
I am not sure if this is 100% the case. Ben maybe able to confirm it still... Depending on what records are available. For my cert I even have shown how many days delay from expected delivery to when it was delivered was recorded.

Of that I have no doubt at all, his reputation precedes him. I'm asking the question in order to figure out if he does have some records that state specifically "Sandman" or the XX7,XU3 codes, or does he use his and Byrons knowledge to confirm vans such as the 2 above? Would hate for him to start getting enquiries from people who have been told they have a Sandman and pay their $90 expecting that the letter will state as such. I'm sure we've all met a few fellow enthusiasts who get overly emotional about small things.
