    Brake light wiring

I have a general auto electrical question.

The rear driving lights are working, when the brake pedal is applied the left brake light illuminates but the right side no brake lights and no driving lights. Does anyone have any suggestions before going to an auto electrician?

That sounds like an earthing issue. Either where the body of the tail light bolts on to the car, or a single wire out from the harness screwed to the vehicle body near the tail light. Probably just need to scratch the contact area with a screwdriver or similar, also check bulb holder isn't wet or rusty.

    cheers

Checked the obvious and swapped the globes and seen if the problem moves or stays the same?

I vote bad earth as well.
What do you mean rear driving lights?
I am sure I remember reading on here years ago about the brake light switch and the reversing lights playing up at the brake pedal or wiring under the dash??
    Wiring typo in thread title.

Earthing issue for sure. Use a multimeter and check for any potential difference between the various earthing connections. If there is a high resistance, the meter will show a voltage across the joint.

Tail light (or driving light as you call it) filament should go out as the brake light comes on (at least it does on most cars I've played with). Sounds like you simply have one brake light out. Check the contacts in the housing and use a multimeter to see if power gets through. Sometimes a bulb can look good but have a busted filament too. If it was an earthing issue then neither the tail or brake light on that side is likely to work.

Perhaps you have just had too many schooners?

This is a strong theory and should not be discounted.....depending on how many schooners, the issue could even be in the flux capacitor
