All honesty I think most vans at some stage have been toyed with over the last
40yrs or so and nobody knows if if some are a genuine thing
Numbers maybe close but with dealer fitments/deletes special orders no one will actually know
Even the numbers on my own van say it could be ,But I know for a fact that it's not

    Hi mate,

Although I'm not as well versed as the other contributors to this post on how to I'd a genuine vehicle, I have been through this process recently to confirm vehicles as genuine before considering purchase. The process I followed is:

    1. Provided details to Ben at Holden Historical Services to confirm if a vehicle with the numbers provided in fact was made. This results in you knowing for sure that the plates are all from one vehicle and if it is a XX7, XU3 variant (report costs $90).

    2. Check chassis rail number matches compliance plate to confirm that the body matches the chassis ( make sure the rivets on the plates are original if not confirm by locating photos of vehicle prior to resto showing plates and note a body replacement is very hard to tell if they are meticulous in covering up signs).

The above combined with input from those included in this thread regarding hood lining, door light actuator switches, ADR compliance if available, should give you some security.

Any particular statement you feel is confusing? While this information up there is good, in this case it doesn't help at all. It could theoretically be the rarer XU3 variant, but it could just be a standard V8. Bolt in bits aren't good identifiers but some of the overlooked details like the wheel winch or black door handles can make positive identification more likely.

67V not sandman trim code. Not a sandman. Save your $90
