    Lower tailgate Hinges

    Hey Guys
    Just need some advice.
I am redoing the lower tailgate hinges and am wondering if there is a shim kit or another method for removing the slop.
    Thanks

Drill out to suit larger pins would be fairly simple.

I thought that would be the way to go WB, just wanted to check if there was a nylon bush type kit available the same as the door hinges. Man the ones I've got are flogged out

You will probably just get away with replacing the hinge pins as they are the part that wears the most. That's what I did with mine and they are fine.

While your at it grab some HQ ones. (also some shorter HQ support wire ropes). HQ ones are flush fitting to the tailgate. Compared to the later model ones which stick out much more.

As Bob said already. You will find if you drill out the plug weld holding the pin from one side that once you punch out the pin it will be quite worn in the middle. Get a new piece of rod tap it in and re-plugweld.

But as said unless your wanting to stay period correct to a HZ etc I would grab the HQ ones. They do look MUCH neater.

I think you also need to change the rubbers on the bumperettes. The HQ ones are shorter.

Yes. They are not that common! But a neat conversion!
