What do you guys think about powdercoating vs painting of chassis/suspension components? Is there much of a cost difference? Is there a quality difference?
Cheers

i have never had powdercoating done but from what i am told the cost differences will weigh up as similar but the longevity of powdercoating far exceeds painting...:weights:
I don't like powder coating on cars, it's fine for handrails etc on houses but is very susceptible to chipping from stones on cars..... it tends to chip right back to the metal and exposes it to rust.
The bullbar on my Cruiser is powdercoated steel and is covered in rust stains from the chipped coating.

Powder coating never really sticks to the metal like paint does. Powder coating sort of wraps around the metal. Once the surface integrity is compromised ie a stone chip with powder coating it then lets moisture into the whole part. Before you know it it's not just a rust spot but the whole lot flaking off.

Thanks guys, might just get it blasted and paint it myself.

So powder coating my inner front guards is not such a good idea?
