According to HK they were available till March 76 when Sandman was dropped from HJ along with Monaro Coupes.
So I guess that's when HX started.

Not quite. The way I read it was that the HJ Holden (base) Sandman ute (8WM) was dropped in early 1976, but the HJ Kingswood Sandman ute (8WN) continued thru until HX release, which was early July 76.
