    Bare metal help

    Hi All,
This has probably been asked a thousand times before but I cant find anything on topic so I need some help please. I have started paint removal on my ute and being time poor, where I have sanded back to bare metal its getting a light dusting of surface rust. Is there a product I can apply to prevent the rust until I can get the whole lot stripped and start on repairs? In saying this I dont have a spray gun yet so I need something either brush on or spray pack but wont affect metal that needs to be repaired or painted. Any help would be great as I want to get something on the metal asap! Thanks in advance.

    Etch Primer.
Just paint stripped and sanded and wire wheeled layers of paint from my replacement upper tailgate. Got the primer on straight away.

yes seavan that would be the go, I would 'Prepsol' wipe/clean before I etch prime though, maybe that is over cautious but......

So the next question is, then before i make any rust repairs and get around to looking at spraying it,will i need to sand off all the etch primer I have sprayed on in a can and do it all properly off the gun?

scuff the surface rust with 240 grit, blow it off and hit it with a light coat of etch (yes its avail in a can). once you're ready to bog or do rust just buzz the etch off.

you'll need to buy a big compressor, primer gun and wizzer (air powered orbital), mig, grinder etc etc

i used CRC on the hq van until the repair was finished then light sand prep wash then used etch. Even went away for 5 weeks the doors in bare metal left in CRC and no rust formed
