    R.M.S (N.S.W),will not re-issue lost/stolen plates

I have just returned from the R.M.S office and thought I would share.

Not sure about other states but if you are in New South Wales, look after your beloved personalised plates because if they get lost or stolen they will not be re-made and re-issued.

If one is missing, you must hand the other in and get some other combo or whatever they hand you. Same as if both go.

So start thinking of something else to put on your next set of plates.

Wow! I looked the other day for a price to replace our personalised plates as the paint has peeled off them. That must be a new idea?

I was told it is to stop illegal things, plate/vehicle swaps etc. I was told it was all too much trouble so they just stopped the re-make side of things for lost/stolen plates..

Providing your plate isn't a limited edition design you can hand your plates back and get the exact same back but new. What Maysik problem is he cannot hand 2 plates back.

I went to the R.M.S to get my personalised plates from storage for my car. The reason I asked about the re-make for lost stolen plates is that it was on the paperwork I had to take in with me. I just wanted someone to clarify that for me.

The lady stated no remakes for lost/stolen plates at all.

I'd say there would be several reasons. There were people reporting their front slimline plates missing too in order to get a second slimline plate to put on the back.

    Exactly,

And it would look great to have a plate from your pride and joy sitting on the wall in your shed.

The main reason if stolen is so that potentially there aren't 2 cars out on the road with the same plate, 1 legitimately registered and the other not able to be detected as not registered

Get the bloke that makes the plates at the big car shows (summernats etc) to knock up a set and you're in business.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!
