It was a very cool time to own a van. I could tell some stories but not on here. Those are for when I finally get to a Van-in or Nationals and we can sit around and remember the old days.....

It was the early 80s for me yeah head off to Margaret River on a friday arvo with your girlfriend and ya board and just park ya van and watch the sunset and listen to the waves crashing on the beach and not a worry in the world

I was a kid in the 70's but where my family spent a lot of time around Parramatta/Fairfield/Bankstown areas was in the thick of vans/utes. It was all about 'getting away'.

Honestly my 16-21 ish years was simular. Loaded up the HZ Sandman ute with camping gear and dirtbike and we to a race. Or went camping at the local sand dunes and surf beaches... This was just before the major release of mobile phones.
