    This is interesting....

    A European squillionaire looking at keeping the Holden dream alive....?

    Is there a possibility new life will be breathed into the industry? I hope so.

    Just deleted my Christmas eve post, because it added nothing.... (Must have been all that surplus egg nog)... anyway Merry Christmas!

    Here are some other links.

    there was also a consortium considered a while back I heard of, perhaps it was this one;

    And an interesting admission from Stefan Jacoby (GM international relations) is revealed here;

    I wonder if GM are also starting to wake up.

    Why would someone be looking at South Australia when there are two other plants in Victoria, and the majority of parts suppliers are in Victoria as well. The majority of component makers at level 2 and level 3 are already closing down, with some already closed. The Government are reluctant to support the parts industry, let alone a possible newcomer. It takes years to build the relationship with the Government, let alone the changes we have had over the last few year from labour to Liberal. each has their own agenda. Then there is the subject of profitability where most suppliers are calling it quits, because there is no money to be made competing against China, Thailand and India. Even the car companies themselves have moved there. It may sound a good idea but the hurdles may be too high. There will be a lot of changes in the Auto industry in the next year and the Ford closure in October 2016 will give an indication of the future.

    Thats grouse. Hopefully the new federal leadership will have more of a clue/vision/brain than the old one, and try to keep this dream alive.
