I think Wombat is on the money here, with everything ive found on this site its looking less and less likely, oh well, but i definitely think that the interior has been swapped out for another car, can someone show me what a 19V trim is supposed to look like?

19V is black, check out various trim websites and they'll have samples. Winner Products should have something online.

As for Sandman authenticity, looking at the photos you supplied the body isn't a Sandman. However if you have minimal work to do on it it would make a fantastic van. Please keep posting pics on how you go with the resto.

Standard headlining finished behind the cabin area, ie just behind the roof light, not all the way to the back.

Thank you Sandaro I wasn't aware the commercials had headlining over the cab. I couldn't envisage it.

Its not just the teeth Dave. Down each side there is a strip of metal attached where the roof meets the side. It is there for the hood bows to fit in and the pinch weld to attach, so even if the teeth were gone this would still be there.

Makes perfect sense, I forgot about the side rails. I just always like to think an inquiry like this deserves a thorough consideration of all possibilities. Conclusive now. Its still a very special vehicle to own, there's less around these days and its still a classic. What colour you gonna chose Coxxy?

Not too sure at the moment mate, im thinking about making it the colour it originally was, i quite like the yellow.

I'll play the bad guy. It's missing the side strips for the hood lining so I'm sorry to say I don't think it's a Sandman.

Isn't a Sandman, but a nice car all the same. I hope it gets restored one day soon.

Tyre placard is correct for an XU3 Sandman (unless Jason's old list on holdenpaedia has errors).

You have to remember that glove box lids and gts parts are damn easy to exchange. You'd never rely on a tyre placard unless you can certify it is original to the while car.
