Tags appear to be correct for XX7 Sandman. But there is no proof just in the tags as it could also be an XU4 (unlikely though).

As for the Van. Take a happy snap of above the rear door. On the inside. Is there full length hoodlining installed? Or is there teeth for the hoodlining?

Note. I have said TAGS are correct for a XX7 Sandman. BUT. This does not mean the body is correct. ;)

Besides what I have listed already re ID plates, can someone send me a picture of a Hoodlining and what I need to visually be looking at to help confirm if HZ Sandman ?
Has the blackouts around doors and windscreen.

Hi Valencia, I really appreciate your help with this as I didn't know it would be so complicated with so many variations.
So just to get this right, if above the rear door it has the teeth (as in the picture you supplied) and with all the other information I have supplied
in the POST, does this mean it is a HZ Sandman or do I need to look for other things, if so please advise (and show picture if possible) ?

Hey Guys, I just heard back from Customercare at GMH re getting an Authenticity Certificate for the HZ.
    See below reply from them;
We write in reference to your recent correspondence received at Holden Customer Care regarding your 1977 Holden HZ panel van, Vehicle Identification Number 8M70RHL397486Z.
Thank you for taking the time to write to us and we understand you would like to confirm whether the above vehicle is a genuine Sandman vehicle.
We regret to advise that Sandman vehicles cannot be identified by our build records. These records will only indicate whether the vehicle was built as a ute or panel van.
In order to determine whether your Holden HZ is a genuine Sandman, please check the 'Body & Option' plate fitted to the vehicle for one of the following codes: XU3, XX7 or XY5.
If none of these codes are present, please be aware that it is likely your vehicle is not a genuine Sandman.
    ## Interesting as per Adelaide built panelvans, I thought they didnt stamp the ID plate ?
    What do you think ?

waddle - what State or city are you in?
There are a lot of knowledgeable people on here that can give you some advice.

As Valencia said, it could be a Kingy so you would need someone to check over the vehicle to be certain before you laid down the cash to buy it.

This metal strip with holes for the hoodling bows needs to be there.
The tags that you put up are not riveted to the body, did you take them off or is that how you bought it? Just asking because it may means that it may have been rebodied.
Good indicator is black door handles on the outside which from the picture I think it has. The next would be the number on the glove box lid. On the inside of the glove box lid is a tyre placard and there is a number on the bottom with two letters.

As you have said very complicated, the main thing I have learned from everyone on here is that it is not 1 thing that makes it a sandman it is a lot of different things and most were very "swapable" (GTS Stuff) so you need to look at the stuff that cant be swapped.
    Hope that helps

    I live in Western Australia

This is how it was purchased.
If chassis number is same as ID tag, that would mean it hasn't been rebodied ?
