    HQ ute bought on Straya Day - Does it get any Aussier?

    Bought this on the way the way home from an extra long weekend up the Riverland. Haven't even swept the workshop floor yet. Was stripped to metal 10 years ago, painted & stored in a shed not quite assembled. Has only minimal rust & no dodgy repairs. May have lucked out with the body for once. Belmont with 253, 4 speed. (originally 202, 3 speed). Original colour was Azure Blue, so this now has me leaning to doing a replica as the HQ's look awesome in that colour combo. May even throw on the spare 7 & 8 inch hotwires I have lying around. Best thing is I won't upset anyone when i modify it.ad_1453793455284.jpgDSC_0209.JPG

    Very cool. I like it the way it looks now but whatever you do it will be a nice ute.

    Body is pretty straight & all gaps are good. However, paint thickness is all over the shop, so I can't leave it like that. But won't have to take it all back to metal this time. Just hit the rust areas. Saved myself about 300 hours

    Doesn't get much more Straya than a HQ ute mate

    After seeing your last one i'm sure you'll do the old girl justice, the avure blue with Sandman 'eyebrows' look cool

    Have a few pics of that HQ in my car nerd folder. I'm thinking around 3 inches lower with 17" GTS style alloys
