no build numbers kept on any sandmans let alone colour dude.
think of a sandman as a 'thunder' ute. it's just a few factory fitted sports options

Ok but does anybody know of any? Like genuinely know of an actual Jade green HJ Sandman? Not just "a bloke told me in a pub once". Oh and Vombil, I definitely don't think of my sandman being anything like a thunder ute, not even close.
Got one in the shed, albiet not complete and in need of everything doing
Van or ute?
I'm not sure of another example to use. The Guru often explains it like that. It is what it is. They were generic and 'common' back then. It's only the passage of time and old timers with memories that have seen them become anything more than a 'thunder', if you insist

Mmm, if we all believed that we'd all be storing "genuine" Thunder utes as retirement funds. Honestly I get what your saying, it's just an optioned kingswood, but its the passage of time that makes them so very different to the shoestring budget built cars of today. Also the blood, sweat and tears ( not to mention luck of actually getting your hands on one ) that goes into having one on the road. When mines finished, god help the first poor soul who pulls up next to it in a thunder ute and mentions that his off the shelf commodore may be in the same league as the once rusty body I rescued from under a tree in the middle of nowhere. Anyway that's just my rant on why I don't like the reference. No malaise intended. I just really thought they're may have been sales records or something to give some indication of general numbers. I've seen them for Fords. I know records for Holden are slim, if not guessed, for cars built before 1974.
Ute, long way off also.
I don't think the comparison to a Thunder was to make them seem any less special. Just that it was a dress up option rather than an actual model and didn't warrant build numbers being kept the way they are today.
For the recordthough, I have seen several HJ Sandmans in Jade green, both ute and vans.
