Very unique and great looking van dude!
Thanks heaps mate, I appreciate that!

Yeah it's a different beast for sure. Love the fact it's Factory black and the 308 4 speed combo - main reason I bought it. See so very few black vans and Utes, well at least I don't personally know of any. I almost went red but felt as it's factory black to leave it that way, I'm glad I did!

It's been loved along the journey by someone, the lower rear window in the upper gate and the XA GT fuel filler were on it when I got it. God that just screams 70's hey!

Red is going to be the contrast colour I use under the bonnet and in the back. It's getting a big fat red dizzy and leads - red looks so good against the black and chrome I reckon. I'll post some more pics as I go, I love looking at all the cars on here so only fair I contribute too.

The headlining got HALF installed Saturday, ( a job I am now very glad I didn't attempt) God its hard to get anything done in this town. For some reason the Sharks teeth have been removed from my interior so old mate had no way of tensioning it and finishing it. Will be done Wednesday - can't wait! Then, working down, I have some steel batton to make ribs for the sides before I sheet it with mdf. Thinking about sticking these in and screwing them instead of welding but not certain yet. They are never going to be seen. It's a bit rough to look at on the sides due to the window fill in job so I can't wait to get these covered.( I would have liked to have them finished perfectly but it basically came down to $) Mdf floor is in already and I'll whip up some cupboards ala Grunt style and that will be done.

So hope to be driving on road in a month, maybe mid October, can not wait!!!

    Cheers

    Hey guys.

Getting a heap of work done to van this weekend and thought I'd take time to post some numbers. If anyone could tell me if these numbers line up with a 3/77 HX I'd be greatful.

    Engine QT839086

    Steer column base 16B7 R S

    Glove box EW 9942992

Oh, after reading RnJ's The Player thread I have decided to name my van. Ready - LIBIDO - aha, sex drive! Hope it's not taken, no idea how to check. Love it!

    Cheers guys. Any info appreciated!

And can someone, anyone tell me why the rear wheel arches inside the van/ute bed are different lengths? Why why why? Have tried searching but come up blank! Fascinating!!!!

Brakes done today! 675 Holley street avenger fitted. New electric dizzy, leads, plugs fitted. New polished alloy flat rocker covers fitted. New fuel pump with steel line fitted - all only roughed in. Finishing touches tomorrow! Stoked!

This time tomorrow - running, driving (kinda), purring, stopping, skid pulling (kinda) Tuxedo 5.0 van is a LOT closer to completion than commencement!

    I'll drink to that!

Wheel arches are different left to right. Reason has to do with the station wagon fuel filler neck. Why does this effect Ute's and Van's? It's all in the tooling in the production.
Skids are done by building up some speed and standing hard on the brakes!

No worries Stickman, I'll get one of it today.

My job got canned today so I'll be doing some work to it today and I'll get a photo of it for you.

I know this van has had some love over the years but gee lots of it seems to be untouched.

Whilst fitting the new brake booster I found an insulation shield running along inner firewall - like horsehair with black trim top. I've pulled heaps of these apart and have never seen this. It appeared to be shaped to fit the column and other protrusions. Is this a factory thing? Like I said I've never seen it.

Also the chrome tails to the door scuff plates were in it - never seen these either.

I'm babbling again so I'll flog off and go get into my van. I'll get that photo for you Stick.

    Cheers - Ape

    Photo loaded mate.
Anything you can tell me about this I'd love to know.

Also, am at a stage where I'm thinking about stripes - I imagine you're the man to ask.

The purple/blue original HX Tuxedo don't do much for me. I'm thinking red and white - leaning to predominantly white stripes with red outlining. Does this make sense? Any pics I can see of such a stripe I'd love to see.

    Cheers mate.

So, have been given day off. Public holiday here in Queensland Monday so FOUR full days to work on my van. Woohoo!!

It will be very close to being finished. Thermos need installing, seats are at trimmers and probably won't be ready, barring those two items I reckon I'll get through most of the 500 little things that need finishing. I'll post some photos sometime over the weekend.

Question - I have somehow lost the park brake and brake warning lenses, the housing they sit in which their respective lights plug into, and the wiper blank out of my GTS dash. Can't believe it! Removed them from fascia for paint.

Anyone know if anyone sells these individual pieces? Does a rares fascia come with these pieces? Does anyone have a rooted fascia and want to sell it/parts?

    Cheers all
