A guy at our wrecking yard was trying to beat us down on a price for 20 min, so we went out the back and drove the fork lift around the front, placed the item on the ground and drove over it in front of him. He just stood there gob smacked and walked away.

It is the same in the building industry, I tell people of you want cheap get a project home company to build it, but don't complain when the windows don't open, and the doors rub on the jambs, and carpets, and the kitchen hinges fall off, just to name a few problems we have seen from inspecting local builders homes, and project homes. My answer is, you get what you pay for, if you are not prepared to pay the price don't buy it....

I've got a shed full of good stuff that I would sell, except for the idiots - ie I don't wish to deal with them. That's why unless it is to people I know aren't going to stuff me around, any stuff I decide to get rid of nowadays goes straight over to Greg's for him to sell. He's much better at dealing with idiots than I am! Guess it comes from all the years of experience.

Very interesting thread. i have only purchased from a wrecker once and i was happy to pay the $200 for the bonnet i was after. I felt that it was a more than fair price to pay. quick and easy! no rooting around, no bidding, no photos, no haggeling. I wonder how much time i have wasted looking for a bargain on ebay.. I could have been working. interesting thought.

I think that sometimes people forget that running a wreckers is a source of income not a hobby.

Also the bonnet was perfect, never messed with. not like ebay..
