I know that Blocker frowns upon putting other members down but this stinks of profiteering. This is the reason that prices are so high when a car that needs a total restore is put up at a price that a good runner/driver should be at. I have no beef with someone making a profit on a car but this is just total greed. A fair price for a 6 cylinder Sandman needing a full resto is less than $10,000.00 but putting $25k or $40k on it is stupidity. Anyone who might be interested in the car will see the silly money price on it and write the seller of as a wanker and won't look any further, when he drops the price to a more reasonable value he has already lost a sale as the buyer has long gone or is laughing at him for being so stupid in the first place.

Agreed. Well said. Nothing wrong with making some money out of it and its worth more than what it was then, but you have to be realistic.

Lets set the record straight on a few things about the sale of my van.
I love it when someone starts a sentence with I know I shouldn`t put you down , but will anyway. The problem with pricing is that not one HQ been sold recently so there is no real history, so I priced the Van $25000 thinking if you spend $40000 to fix total investment would be $65000 not bad for a HQ Sandman but obviously I`m no expert so if you took the time to read the ad, it quite clearly states offers on or around $25000 and I will listen all realistic offers. It amazes me how every body questions my integrity and motive for selling the Van again read the ad it quite clearly says I need the money finish my house, I shouldn`t have to give a reason, but for some reason every body wants know my personal business .
Now for my biggest issue. Integrity. and this is pointed at you Vombil. Never ever question my integrity when you ask me, would I take offers in the low twenties then turn around jump on the band wagon of all the over narrow minded people. To me that shows that you are a weak , narrow minded and have no idea . So next time people please ask questions before you make any statements that are not true , as I`m more the happy to answer them. At the end of day would love to see this Van restored some day , and my children have nicer home to live that's all I wanted .. regards Brett

i deleted your PM without reading it so i'm glad you posted here. I think you'll find if you look through this thread that I started the bandwagon. your advertised price on gumtree is $25,000 but said you will 'look at all reasonable offers', i would have thought early 20's is more than 'reasonable' and more than it's worth (just my opinion). Generally people who are not fishing and are genuine sellers will invite offers close to the ask. If you want offers above then ebay is the place for you, not gumtree. When I saw it on ebay for offers around $40,000 I lost all interest and respect (granted I don't know you), regardless of your explanation, motives etc. That's it. I was interested but now having a better idea of who is selling, I wouldn't take it off your hands for $10,000 if you offered. Every car has a history and I think you've had a negative impact on this one. Based on the posts in this thread, I don't think I'm alone on this. All you had to do was keep it consistent. It stinks of Bali. Tourist price and local price. It's insulting one's intelligence. A bit like questioning one's integrity.

Anyways I have a Sandman so I'm not one to talk market values down. Hope you get fair money.

All`s fair in love and war , I originally had it priced on both sites for $40000 but reading what people thought on Facebook I change it to $25000 on gumtree and change the reserve on ebay but simple forgot I had it also in the description, which I change as soon as I realized the mistake . I think this happened between your first message and your second message . To be honest I was a bit overwhelm by the negative response. One good thing has come out this , got a message from the owner that sold it to Chris after he had seen it on Facebook , he`s going to send photos and rego details of owners before him. Anyway Life to short to hold a grudge, so I hope this clear any misgivings .. Regards Brett

For future reference to all Australians. If you wish to sell a Holden and believe it's a Sandman, you must have your ad checked by the mysandman advertising department first. Pricing and description will be corrected before admission to mysandman clique. Advertising will be allowed to proceed after reaching accepted standards.
