You would have to splice in the VR harness to run all that, You could fit a TRANSGO vacuum modulator kit to T700 and put it behind the current motor.

In my HG I had a t700, 2.78 Banjo diff and 265/50r14 tyres.
It was fantastic on fuel and would do about 2100 rpm @ 110km/h
It cruised to Bathurst (and Canberra on a different trip) and was getting 32 mpg.
Worked 308 with a 465 holley. (Also had A/C and P/Steer)

2100 @ 110km/h was just about perfect in a ute.
Didn't worry about lock up and the 6 cyl diff was a dream with it.

The HJ Stato that the motor came out of, already had the 465 on it.

It seems like a no brainer that a TH700/4L60E is a great addition to any older car (running less than massive HP), so it looks like i might have to give it a shot. Just need to work out the pro's and cons of including the 304 EFI engine as well. How much money would you need to sink into doing something like this?
About the cost of a donor car usually as you would pick up the wiring harness etc. you can wring some reasonable power and torque out of them if you spend wisely but as other point out LS upgrades are a deadset no brainer these days. If you're going to run the injection you'll need a good wiring harness and peeps seem to charge whatever they want for them nowadays (I do have one somewhere but not sure of its condition or if it is an auto or manual trans one). If you don't have the wiring harness then it costs similar dollars for a Harrop dual plane inlet manifold and a small 4BBL carby.
Should it need one then freshening up the bottom end and if it is a 'blank' block (on the outside it wont say 5.0 in the usual spot it will just be blank which is an indicator of a relieved block able to easily take a Harrop stroker crank without huge mods/grouting) then a stroker crank is a good cost effective way of upping the power (and more importantly the torque output) with the standard cast iron heads.
You'll need a Delco 808 computer and memcal (the brains of the computer) or some other type of aftermarket ECM to run it.
Nunc est bibendum...
The throttle cable is different too, I have one of them somewhere too if you need it.

Thanks Taily, appreciate the consideration. I'm interested in your wiring loom and throttle cable so will drop you a PM. I do have the 'blank' block but its not stroked, however it turns over quite ok and the plugs don't look too bad (if a little aged) so things may be positive. Cheers again.
I had a red 308 that i'd efi on it. Was at the stage of being ready to fit it in, when i'd had a shit week at work working on EFI cars. So I proceeded to remove it and sell the EFI set up.
Sold the motor later as well.
