Ok, been doing some eBay surfing and I think I've scored the essential bits to make this upgrade doable (well that's what I'm telling myself anyway). Scored a VS SS Delco ECU with Memcal for $40 and a complete EFI auto wiring loom for $50 so i seem to have a mostly complete drive train. Started doing a spreadsheet list of other bits needed and it seemed to stretch on to eternity, so I thought I'd consider how to make the 1 Tonner 'EFI ready' so to speak. Figured the first challenge would be moving the battery without moving my WB washer bottle and charcoal canister, so I jumped underneath the arse today to see what space i could find. Looks like there may be just enough room all the way down the back for a battery box so I might give this a shot. Figure the worst case scenario would be I end up relocating the battery and gain a neater engine bay.

    Hi mate, check your PM's.

Do suggest if you are mounting your battery under the tray you look at either easy access (in case it needs a jump start) and/or an anderson plug mounted in a spot easy to get at from the side of the vehicle.

I'm not so sure about the box location to the exhaust.

yeah custom mod to standard headers or pull your pants off for some pacemakers etc i think. tail shaft, cross member, ext fuel pump, eng mounts, sump n dip, shifter surround, fuel return , charcoal can etc etc etc so many things needed and i reckon people would rather see a carby motor in a car that vintage but still a great motor and good conversion for a daily driver

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. The feedback is appreciated. Taily, thanks also for the PM and anderson plug idea, cheers.

Vombil, thanks for the list, you've helped add something to my list (shifter surround), also I've heard conflicting stories regarding the cross member. Any truth that the standard Holden T350/400 one will work for the T700?

What you can also do instead of an Anderson Plug, is to put an insulated bolt somewhere in the engine bay and run it to your starter motor's battery supply. (Some BMW's have this and it is hidden with a black cover over it.)

Don't you remove the charcoal canister with the EFI setup? Thought it would be a closed system with a return line running to the tank.

Hi Innuendo. Yes agreed, i was using the box for sizing but thought i could get a folded metal box made up to bolt in so it won't be concerned with exhaust there. I almost considered making another lift up lid on the tray, but Taily and Agr071 suggestions make sense. I will look to box the battery in and set up an external jump or charge connection somewhere else. Cheers
