    GPS tracker - advice

Can anyone recommend a GPS vehicle tracker? maybe one that has a phone app or is particularly small or durable etc etc

I self-insure so this is part of the risk mitigation strategy

    thanks

Channel 9 was advertising a very small one the other day ,
But for the life of me cannot remember the name of it .
It was very small had a battery with optional hard wire kit .
Came with SIM card and you down load an app for your phone ,the price was $150 and a tad under $300
for 2 , and you could add more to your account at a later date.
The only problem I can see is that ones that use a SIM card need a cellular network to track ,
No network No tracking----- so you get what you pay for
Years ago I did a course on the first of the kind tracker and it was the size of a late model in car phone kit .
Was a brilliant device with a seperate aerial high powered and no SIM card ,
As a demo on a Berlinger van we disconnected the aerial ,the van was underground 2 levels and we tracked the van down to a 50m square block
In saying that technology has advanced since the and thy have become a lot cheaper & smaller..
Look into them properly as some will have on going charges like a dollar a day monetering charges

Get a smartphone with a cracked screen for cheap and hide it in the car somewhere with a charge cable hardwired in. Put a prepaid sim in and track it via one of the friend tracker apps.

That is a very smart idea, wish i had thought of that, i have a couple of old phones hanging around the house might give it a try in the daily (track the misses ).

Highly recommend getting a tracker device
Here in NZ I used a system called Blackhawk
The great thing about it is that you could disable the vehicle any where.
