I guess. That 253 that street machine built that made 515hp probably wouldn't. A 300hp 308 would for sure though.

When i was an apprentice i built a 253, with help from some old-school speedway guys. In an LX it put a good fright into alot of guys who thought there car was the shizzle. They couldn't believe it was "Only" a 253. It helped that i had full use of an engine machine shop and access to Ivan Tighe, who ground the cam.

Absolutely, after it was stolen from the Tafe car park in Brisbane while on my last block release. It turned up in the Brisbane river, completely F***K'd. I put a very warm 308 in. After a few years that got turfed for a Sweet 350. Sold it to a young fella who promptly rapped it around an electricity pole, Thankfully he survived. but that little 253 balanced and blueprinted loved to rev, and me being young i loved to wring its neck. Which is what i would have loved to do to the assholes who stole it. Thankfully my Dad and my uncle and others helped me rebuild it for a second time. Third time it was for the scrap yard.

True. But there are plenty of HP hidden in a 253. There are lots in a Keith Black big block too.
