Thread: Air cleaner decal?

  1. #1

    Air cleaner decal?

What decal should I have on my 76 HX V8
Looking through the net and them seem to avoid that model?
Have given the engine bay a bit of tidy up

    Cheers Kiwivan

Should be the same as HZ. Red GMH 4.2 or 5.0.

The reason its not advertised is because NO HX used an air cleaner decal at all.

GMH top and 4.2L bottom was never used until the release of the VB Commodore.

Before this time the HZ used the "HZ" top and engine size bottom half moon.

Fairdinkum. I didn't know that. So HJ has the big square sticker, HX has nothing and then they started in HZ again?
This is the set I got for my HX Sandman?

Not sure when exactly, but late HJ had no decal.

    Oh thats embarrassing isn't it.

Going by the business card that was some time ago now! Back when i wasnt aware of HX not having air cleaner decals. This was because i seen everyone else selling them for HX. So i just assumed.

Ah wasn't meant to be embarrassing. Just wondering really. You clearly worked that out long before I did. I will use them anyway. Nothing is just boring. Actually I will turn the lid upside down anyway. Gets a bit more air into the donk...

Out of my head, from a couple of decades of observation and inspection of original vehicles. I would be interested whether you or anyone else have any source material either way?. I have rarely seen Hj engine decals outside of GTS. For Sandman they aren't in the brochures (no that that is definitive).

It would be something I'd be interested to hear of other people's observations/recollections, specifically for HJ

Wow an interesting can of worms
Engine bay looks quite boring without the decals.
