    Standard exhaust manifolds or extractors?

Hi guys, just another question, I'm thinking running standard exhaust manifolds on my standard 308 wanting a nice sounding twin system is there any noticeable performance difference in extractors compared to standard? It's not going to be a race car just want something that sounds nice

I think the key is moving gasses along as fast as possible which extractors should do better than manifolds. The note may be more adjustable by what gets done after the manifolds/extractors such as pipe diameter, X or H pipe and what mufflers are used. Cheers

In my opinion there is a noticeable performance difference using extractors, definitely breath better. As Damien said exhaust note due more to pipes and mufflers

Years ago, extractors (combined with Holley & cam) was something that I put on most cars as soon as I bought them. Nowadays I wouldn't bother with extractors for a nice driver/cruiser unless it was necessary. Extractors scrape on speed bumps, hoists, driveways etc and seem over priced compared with what we used to pay, and don't seem to last either. Factory manifolds can have a good exhaust note if you run a twin system & experiment with a balance pipe. Its unusual to find a V8 Holden without them on the cars I look at. On the other hand extractors may improve your fuel economy if that's a consideration

    cheers

Factory manifolds on ours with a 2 into 1 muffler and then 2 out.
Good sound but wanting to shut it up a bit.
Thinking about putting a couple of hot dogs in line just prior to the muffler.

    Cheers Kiwivan
