    Bushfire

You may have seen the Sir Ivan Dougherty fire near Leadville in NSW on the news. Leadville is my home town. I have helped where I can over the last few days. Fighting fires, helping save a friends house from being destroyed, then today trying to find lost cattle. Taking some hay to keep surviving cattle alive. It's the most horrific thing I have seen. Just total devestation. The town of Uarbry reduced to just three houses. I can't put it into words. I lived through our family house burning down 25 years ago. That was unbelievably bad. These people have this plus their livelihood removed. I just can't get my head around it. I feel guilty because all I have is perfect yet I am only 5 km from the start of the devestation.
Sorry to vent but I am at a loss as to what to feel.

Incredibly sad for those people and that community. What I've seen on the news is devastation.
Luckily people haven't lost lives, but their lives will never be the same. The cow cocky who lost his house and cats was very sad to watch.
Aussies are resilient bastards and proud of their towns and communities. I wish them all the best and hope the government and insurance companies don't sit on their hands.

Glad to hear you and your family are safe WB. Thoughts with those that lost everything. The power of the Australian community to get behind people is amazing, and the lucky ones will help those affected to rebuild. I witnessed this last year when my business was destroyed by the Picton flood. The community spirit kept everyone going to rebuild. I counted myself lucky that it wasn't my house, but there were many who did lose their houses too.

Hey James. When we saw that fire we were very concerned hence the text. Gulgong and Mudgee had no power the smoke was a very odd red colour and it was all very frightening. The wind was so hot and fierce and I feel fir those fighting it. Are all those poor people being cared for and have places to go? Fire is so final. Thankfully your place was spared.

Thanks for the replies. It's hopefully under control now. Who knows how this affected ected will rebuild. Lots of support from both inside and outside our local community luckily. However it's in the future when it's no longer fresh in everyone's minds that it will get tough I imagine.
