    HX Sandman shed find

    Hi all
    Picked up this 6 cylinder sandman the other day. The body will be sorted in the coming weeks and have all the other partsordeed or on their way. The question is do I swap in a v8 or stick with the 202? I like the idea of keeping it original but can't stand the idea of it not being a v8.... all thoughts appreciated! How do I attach pictures into the thread?

    Absolutely!
    308 will be perfect. Don't muck around with a Chev as theres too many differences but a 308 is an easy swap.
    Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!

    how many 6 cyl sandmans are still in existence. If its the original motor you should keep it. Definate novelty factor, gauranteed to be the only one at the show.

    Thanks - im new to the scene but just purchased a restored HJ GTS and my shed find sandman..... I have procured all the parts for the restoration can't believe how cheap parts are! (Particularly after doing a Jensen interceptor!!) and pick up the red 308 and other parts tomorrow..... I'll check the engine out but I don't think it's the original 202..... BUT you never know!! Still trying to sort out how to post pics. 🙄🙄🙄
    Does anyone know what the go is with the diff in a 6 cylinder Sandy? Is it a v8 diff orwill I need to upgrade? What about the brakes? What do I need to do the conversion besides the obvious, radiator, mounts, tail shaft, (it's a turbo 400 gearbox on the don't) appreciate any and all help you can give me!!!

    IF it was me, and I know your not, i'd leave it a 6 cyl.
    Something a bit different, and with a 5 speed (or 4 speed auto) behind it, it'd be a great highway cruiser.
    BO6 = Rarer then a Sandman
