As Greg says, buy a whole VN-VP. Don't discount VR or VS either if it is a manual as you can use it easily too, just don't use VSIII ute with sequential engine. The only little bit more work in using the VR-VS manual engine is you have to get the memcal program modded to remove the BCM (security) input, but in reality you have to do this anyway with a VN-VP engine unless you are using the same diff ratio and tyre size as the donor car. The VR-VS manual engine will bolt straight up to your TH350 and you can use the wiring etc. In some ways the VR-VS is easier as the 10-pulse/rev signal from the speed sensor goes straight to the ECU whereas with VN-VP you have to get a different speed sensor or stuff around with a pulse converter as in these the speedo converts the 10 pulse signal into a 2 pulse one. Plus you'll get good $ back for the 5spd T5 manual conversion out of the car.
If you want to run a 4spd auto (easy fit to HQ-WB) you can really use any of the injected 304 or 350 out of VN to VSIII Commodore, Holden, Statesman or HSV. Basically VN have TH700R4, VP have 4L60, VR on have 4L60E. Only catch is the ECU for the 4L60E is bigger than the VN-VP or VR-VS manual and is harder to hide under the HQ-WB dash.
