The grilles are moulded from the original tooling. Due to low production quantities, as compared to the original runs, both the pricing and materials are affected. Raw materials increase along with labour and set up costs all add to pricing changes. They are moulded in grey and maintaining the colour is difficult due to so many factors such as weather and the operator. Production is slotted in when convenient to the supplier with time to be allowed for purging any existent material in the moulder. It takes a very large machine due to the size of the die and with many manufacturers closing down, or changing their product range, they don't get the priority they once commanded.
The raw grill is then sent out for painting and once again all the factors of material and labour costs come into play. As they are done in smaller quantities they rely on the availability of the painter and his capability to mask and produce.
They then have the moulding strip added before a final check before packing into cardboard boxes for storage, sale and delivery. At this stage it is possible that they may be rejected and any faulty stock destroyed as often they cannot be reworked.
Hopefully they reach the final fitment to a vehicle in prime condition after transport around the country.
As with all Rare Spares product if you have any issues you are best advised to contact their Head Office direct.
Having this tooling saved from destruction years ago it should be appreciated that the Grilles are still available.
