    Help chasing a part!

Ok I'm wondering if any one has one of these laying around, in the past owners wisdom he fitted a ford single rail in my red van, the clutch set up was an interesting set up to say the least, I'm going back to m21 set up but I can't find my clutch cable bracket that bolts to the fly wheel, anyone got one? Late Hz had the first of the pull type clutch, then the commodore got the bellhousing with the bracket moulded into the housing.

Sorry mate, I don't think your description is 100%. HZ had pull cable bellhousing (with "ear" moulded) from approximately mid 78. The cable for this system had a adjustment nut (usually plastic) & thread on the cable. The only other clutch system on HZ was the push system, also known as half cable/ rat trap. The cable for this system has no adjustment nut on cable.

The only way you could have a pull clutch without "ear" bellhousing is if using a Dellow or other aftermarket bellhousing with a bolt-on bracket for the cable on the side of the bellhousing. Maybe this is the bracket you are after, but doesn't look like it in your pic. Otherwise you will be looking for a rat trap (HX & early HZ) which from memory looks like part of the bracket in your pic.

Maybe you could put up another pic of the bracket

    Hope this helps, cheers

Thanks mate, from what I can gather they used the remainder of left over bellhousing with a bracket like pic until the moulded bellhousing came into production, could be wrong but would grab a bellhousing with the cast on the side if I can

It depends on where you live as to who the best adviser/dismantler is. They could probably assist you. In Melbourne Brian or Robbie at HOLDENT in Clayton come to mind.

When buying a cable type bellhousing, make sure you buy it complete with clutch fork and nylon bush for the cable. These parts are harder to find than the bellhousing itself. If you don't find one complete with clutch fork, you can use VN VP VR Com v6 fork, its the same but has a weight on it that can be (carefully) cut off. It shouldn't be hard to make the nylon bush, but a lot of cars with this system seem to get by without it, not sure how much difference it makes to the operation.

A bare bellhousing should be a lot cheaper to buy than a complete one.

    cheers

If you cant find one I reckon Castlemaine Rod Shop could set you right, or give you some options, they will deliver interstate with ease. Its an aftermarket product of course, but pretty sweet, good prices too.

Hi, I've got one of those, but I don't know if it's what you need. It's the cable holding bracket of a 'push cable' set-up and is only a part of the mechanism. Also, which clutch pedal do you have? A 'push cable' pedal is different to a 'pull cable pedal. I have most of both systems on hand, let me know if I can help.
