Gutter roof removal for repair and replacement
- Hope this helps Vombil

We were lucky to find two donor vans, a HX that had been rust proofed at some stage, and a WB which was basically rubbish.
Both vans were partially dismantled so had no issues disassembling further for parts.

The HX had the best roof of the three vans so to remove it without further damage we cut the outside edge of the gutters to make it a lot easier to drill out the spot welds of the roof.
The tops of the upper panels proved to be the best so we used those sections to repair the HQ windowless panels.

Out of the three vans the HQ had the best selection of gutter - surprisingly.
But we are still having to join short links to get enough material.

As for removing the upper panels we heated the body solder from the slip joints but the brass welding proved too difficult to unpick the joints cleanly, so had to use cut off disc and of course lots of repairing after.

Of course we still have a long way to go so too early to tell how well the roof will refit.

We'll put pics up when the roof is back on.
