The HJ Sandman I had was a 76 XX7 and had black dash fascia and gts gaurds with Blackouts. I was the 3rd owner all the interior was standard and un touched from front to back and original, but it was is primer when I bought so not sure about the blackouts.

As my HJ had no dash at all i have nothing to go on other then memory of my HJ Stato 20 years ago, was there ever intermittant wipers on HJ's?
If so where was the switch?

    Hi Agro

My HJ has no intermittant wipers at all. I know the previous owners and this is the original dash.I had a look my HJ owners Manual and it did'nt show an intermittant wiper on the GTS Dash , Comercial/Belmont/Kingswood Dash or Premier/Monaro LS Dash.
It does however show a Dwell Control for wipers on page 37.(It is a round dial in the wiper control.)
So I think it may have been an option.
    Hope this helps.
    Rob.

ah do you really! Ive been asking around for ages for some! I want some for my HZ GTS when I finish it. As I do not want to run an aftermarket compressor. I have wondered about fitting the outer cover to a newer smaller unit. Just machine it all out and fit it overtop.....

You don't have to run an aftermarket compressor.
Just drain the compressor of it's oil, put in some PAG oil (available for auto electrical wholesalers), put some R134a adaptors onto the charge ports, and presto you can regas on R134a.
My HZ has been changed with no hassles at all.

You should be able to run the original comp with no worries. John deere and chamberlain used the same one and they have all been converted to r12 gas with no issues. It is the hoses that cant handle the gas. They are too porous and let the gas leak out. There is bugger all hose so it wont be a big issue to change. that should say converted to r134a gas.
