Opinion on Value please 1974 HQ L31 M21 LSD Windowless Van

Hi guys I've been offered a 1 owner Glacier white belmont 308 windowless HQ 74 van here in WA. Excellent pedigree with one owner since new and books etc. Numbers matching. No rust and paint is 80% original. Original tired black interior with factory buckets. No a/c or p/s from factory. Factory GTS dash. Motor has had a recent refresh as has the box.

The bloke wants pretty solid coin so I just want to know that i'm not paying too much

    So what's she worth?

A fair bit but not Sandman money(I assume it’s not one). Probably one kidney and half a lung.

hey WB you see the metallic green HQ sandman van that sold over here for $150,000 a couple months ago? Fully restored. Looked smick in the pics but I guy i know saw it and reckons it was swiss cheese prior to resto and the end job on panel and paint was pretty run of the mill.

Yeah, unreal. Got me stuffed how people have so much disposable cash. Scary to think these cars are all still just as big a potential rust bucket as they always were when they were worth nothing.

Worth is subjective. Technically, it’s worth what someone is willing to pay and what the seller is willing to let go of it for.

If it’s really rust free and windowless then surely someone will front up $20 or $30k for it if they really want it. Location doesn’t really help. There seems to be less money to throw around out west at the moment. Lots of toys being sold

With the prices being mentioned in the marketplace (and I'm not sure if these are just asking prices or rumours) but you'd have to say 30-40K range for what you describe. What's the solid coin he wants? Am I way off?

Yeah I would reckon 30ish. But who knows.
Having said that, I reckon a good WB Kingswood Ute might pull 30k now, I would imagine the HQ van you described should be worth more.

Mate, it's a bit like the adult "personal" classifieds in the local rag, your description leads all of us to think different versions..... some will picture mint body, good looker whilst others will think it's well used with a saggy body full of battle scars.

Before reading others comments/values, being a one owner in the sunny big old West, I immediately pictured thin paint with several scrapes and creases, 600,000+kms and placed it at $25k as a starting point

I reckon it boils down to what you are going to do with it, if you're going to tart it up and flip it then crunch the numbers...if keeping it and keeping it stock then it's probably worth more (cos when's the next one turning up).......if building a clone or modifying then maybe start with something cheaper

Two pictures will have everybody revising their figures.......bit like the personals
