Interesting, never new they auctioned abandoned and uncollected cars on Ebay. This has to be a HZ Sandman if anyone is looking for one, GVW 1950kg, 2 seater with L32 M20. Centre console mount visible in pic in front of Tbar shifter. A bit of rust and missing a lot of original parts but only $4900 at the moment. 15hrs left to go...

Jason (stickthis) has said in his research on GVM that from 1978 sandman was 2000. What's not clear from Jason's info is whether he is referring to model year 1978 (ie from sept77) or calendar year 1978 (ie Jan 78).

Obviously crucial to ID of this van.

Would there have been anything else onwards from 78 that had 1950 though?

This van might answer that question. I’ve got a 1/78 with 2000gvm so maybe it is the calendar year that’s the cutoff.

A HZ non sandman van with de-rated (passenger) tyres, option XU4, would be 1950kg throughout HZ production.

I have a feeling it is calendar year too, be interested whether anyone has 2000kg prior to January
