Which is derived from NASCO and that is where the "N" comes from. Holden changed it's parts division name from National Automotive Service Company to General Motors Parts & Accessories around 1972 (Mid HQ). Holden continued to use the "N" from NASCO as a prefix on Genuine Replacement Engines, Chassis and Bodies even when known as GM P&A.

I thought chassis were issued blank with no number?
I have no idea if the N stood for Nasco. Seems a long shot but it’s possible.

Most the time the chassis were not stamped but are still issued with a NASCO number.
Bodies were supplied with NASCO stamped on a new compliance plate but were typically swapped for the original.

100% the "N" prefix stands for NASCO. This is a very well known fact.
