    Vin number

    Hi All
Looking at a HJ panel van. Looks to be a Sandman but Chassis Number doesn't match. Has a unusual Chassis Number NREPS1275X231 any ideas.
    Thanks

Fairly sure that would be a NSW police issued number.

Either way, the car as a Sandman has lost desirability and will never amount to much is the sales arena as a Sandman.
Unless you want to modify it, I don't see any extra incentive.

The N could be for NASCO but I haven't ever seen NREPS.
I haven't heard of a NASCO replacement chassis that is pre numbered either.

N is the GMP&A replacement engine pre-fix. It doesn’t stand for anything.

Also the chassis number is on the opposite side and the vehicle was originally from NSW. If it was in a accident and the Chassis replaced was this stamped by NSW police

Yes sounding like a different chassis with a police number. ..
Would have been accident damage to chassis.

If everything else is Sandman and chassis has been replaced how does this effect value.

Massively. People wanting collectability wont be interested much at all. Its pretty much worth what a replica with original Sandman bits would be.

People arent paying big money for these things because of their Lotus inspired Handling or Rolls royce build quality. Theyre buying them in the hopes of making a few bucks when they go to sell them. Any little thing like this will put pwople off, or they’ll use it as a bargaining point npw in the hope that the next person wont.
