Sounds right, I think that Holden changed the model year each September in the year prior (in line with GM in the states), other manufacturers do the same. In the states you'd actually have a new model released every year in September, but that didn't happen here obviously due to smaller population not making that frequent a change worthwhile
Thanks Sandaro, that explains why my van (10/78 build) has a J (79 year) as I also was confused about it.
Early ‘75 HJ 308/TH400 Absinth ute - has been in the one family (I’ve owned it for a bit over 20 years) since new. Gazelle interior, air/steer. All fnished and enjoying putting as many k’s on it I can. A bit of fun with a built motor and box and a 150 shot under the quaddie. Lovin’ it.![]()

Very modified, 308 stroked to a 355, supra 5 speed, custom stainless 3 inch exhaust, Gilmour drive and 600 double pumper Holley. Hope iv'e got that all right. Currently Tuxedo black?
Fully registered and being driven, will require full body off resto at some point. Waiting until we officially own her and not the bank before going down that route.
DSC03673.JPGI think most of you know mine, condition is pretty good
1978 Madiera Red Sydney build
Good news (for me anyway) is that I have found a HQ Barbados Green Sandman van that has been under a tarp in a dry environment for 35 years and I'm in negotiation to buy it.... It has ridiculously low kms and is in totally original condition... 308/4-speed and black interior.
The second I own it I'll post it up.... This is the van I've dreamed about since I was 16.... Holy grail.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!
Congratulations Rob!
Can’t wait for the pictures
Cheers Kiwivan
