Ute's or Van's?

My first car as a licensed driver was a White 5-76 HJ panelvan with 173ci and three on the tree and 42000klm on the clock. Ex PMG van bought from the Government auctions for $1500 in 1980.

I was a Ford man and actually wanted a TD Cortina wagon but had to work so sent dad to the auction with my cash..... he came back with a bloody Holden van??????

However, I was pretty wrapped with it once I found out the mates could pile in the back with the surfboards and you could sleep in it quite comfortably for a weekend at the beach.... I was converted to a Holden man and had quite a few more vans after it.

I love em both but being a tradie a ute is a work truck to me..... but a van..... toss a matress in the back and it's a mobile bedroom. If you ask most 40 something people what a Sandman is, 95% of them will say a Holden panelvan.

Yes, I know you can chuck a mattress in the back of a ute but if it pisses down at the drive-in it isn't much fun huddling under a tarp....:lol:
