New air filter cover.

I've seen the original air cleaner lid turned upside down to let more air in ...
Looks odd but would have to let more air in..

Mine is upside down. The Buick Century I had in Canada had the same style air cleaner so I turned it over as well.
It really just lets hot air in though.

Certainly will not getting rid of the old air cleaner.
I fact now thinking of leaving it on.

Just check that the base plate doesn’t flex. Some of those after market air filters are rubbish and flex and don’t seal around the carby, letting dirt straight in.
