Per-gol-a vs pur-guh-luh I here this on USA TV shows. I have not heard Per-goat-ter. But maybe a pagoda "puh-goh-duh"

I hadn't noticed, but I will be listening for that now.

I have noticed that with Victorian's with the word "here" they (maybe not all) say "he-ah" where as I'd say "h-ear".

Some tv people refer to Bathurst as Bath-hurst? I’ve only ever known it as Bathurst. Apparently the lounge I sit on to watch tv is now called a couch? Another Americanism.

It's like most towns, the pronunciation is normally different to what people expect. It's an old English thing so you know they're not locals. Victorian's (but not limited to) including Brocky have/had a fail when pronouncing Bathurst. I remember Jeremy Clarkson calling it Bath (as in Bath room) Hurst. Also heard Penrith pronounced Pen-reeth (how the British would say it) of course the Penrith locals pronounce it Pen-rif. It's called lounge in Australia and only Australia really and we put them in our lounge room. Fancy having a couch room or a sofa room - ridiculous!

Derby "dur-bee" American. But to be fair I say Derby.
Derby "dahr-bee" British. Again to confuse like in the name Derbyshire = "dahr-bi-sheer"

    Rodeo "roh-dee-oh"
    Rodeo "roh-dey-oh"

I would be surprised if most, if not all, people pronounced Canowindra wrong if they'd never heard the way the locals say it

ROFL I often say Cano-win-dra as a joke around here. Gee, the locals go off if you use it there! Can-ow-in-dra is more how they like it.

    Not wrong about that!

Not sure I've heard of it but I'll try "Cas-sill-is" probably wrong?

New people visiting Wollongong "Wool-on-gong" struggle with suburbs Bulli "Bull-eye", Unanderra "You-nan-derra" and Wonoona "Woo-noon-ah" other suburbs that also get them Thirroul and Towradgi.

    How about "Lucknow" near Orange.

I noticed on a market site a pair of “Genuine Holden Fender Protectors” for sale? The things mechanics throw over the front guards while servicing your car. Growing up with two panel beaters in the family I have only known them as guards, fenders is another Americanism.
