    GTS steering wheel- puller holes

    Greetings all.
Bit of a lurker on and off for while for this site, needless to say lots of great info.

I have a WB ute which has been mocked up as an HZ.
Ive been trying to remove the GTS steering wheel using a puller and came across this thread.

    http://www.mysandman.com.au/forums/s...steering+wheel.

(Not sure what the consensus here is reviving old threads so thought Id make a new one)

The thread says the puller holes should be approx 5/16th
Now if you look my pic , I dont have any threaded holes bar the horn pad adaptor ones.
The only holes big enough are the horn button holes themselves.
I dont know if the wheel is genuine or repro as it came with the car.
Any insight would be much appreciated.
    John

Hi John, looks like haven't removed all of the horn pad assembly yet - 4 screws around the horn contacts. I recall them being phillips head on mine maybe allen key on yours?

This is what it should like like with it removed - you can see the 4 smaller inset threaded holes for the horn assembly and 2 larger ones at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock positions that you can use for a steering puller. Cheers

thanks for getting back to me so quickly mate.
Looking at your pic and also a picture of someone flogging an NOS on FB , I do have some sort of reproduction wheel as your boss and wheel are all one piece (by the look of it) ,
but mine can be separated by allen heads.
By pure luck on my behalf the steering column nut was only just nipped up so I grabbed both sides of the boss and it just came off..
First pic is the underneath of the boss, the broken indicator cancel explains why it was a bit dodgy cancelling the indicators.
    thanks again for your help.

Your pics look more like yours is a sports wheel, (micky wheel) something from autobarn etc. Put up a pick of the wheel & we can see what it is for sure
    Cheers

I was reading through the forum and came across this thread.

    http://www.mysandman.com.au/forums/s...ares+GTS+wheel

The photos of the LS Monaro with the Rares spares steering wheel in particular.
Whilst mine obviously isnt that colour the main part of the wheel attached to the boss by allen head screws and the tapered boss makes me think its an early rarespares wheel,
which makes sense as thats when my car was changed to its current look.
Its looking pretty crap now with the paint flaking off so Ive ordered a new repro one, no puller holes is a pita.

Certainly looks like that early Rares one. Unusual,
    Can’t be many left.
