I remember the old Ampol trials very well. My grandmother took first in class and fifth outright in the fifties in a 1927 Rolls Royce of all things. Stayed in the family for forty years. We used to take it on holidays on the odd occasion. Still has its racing livery. Rolls tried to sue my grandmother because you are not allowed to use them in racing events, but that was a whole other story.

    Yep,

    I'm a Brown.

My aunty on my mums side was Cath Price her navigator and Vince Brown my uncle, real family affair. Actually Vince did most of the driving and my Nanna drove 20-30 percent. Cath Price did the occasional driving stint also. I really miss the old Rolls it was a big part of my life when I was a kid and probably played a big role in me getting into the automotive trade.

Last time I seen the Rolls it was fully restored and back to its original green paint colour. It was in a museum in Sydney near Darling Harbor. Unfortunately closed some years ago and haven't seen it since.
