    HZ ute

Because I stuffed up and started my other thread in the wrong section, I thought I'd throw a couple of photos in here until I get around to doing a proper thread in the replica sub forum.

This is what I started with.

Where we are at now. Rain in Sydney over the last week or so has called a halt to proceedings.

It will have a set of Stick This's stripes on it in solid black, no colour for something different.

The colour and the stance look great. You paint it yourself? What is it painted in?

Cheers. The rear of it will be dropped an inch from where it is now.

I've got a mate who's an ex spray painter. I did the rust work, he's waving the gun around. Painted in Acrylic. It's supposed to be Papaya, looks nice out in the sun. At the moment it's only got a couple of coats on it, need the weather to co-operate so we can finish it.

Once it's done it will have a front spoiler, black Sandman decal set, blackouts, and a tuff tonneaus hard lid on it. Keeping the single headlight front.

Still haven't finished this thing. Waiting on some decent weather & free time to get the paintwork finished. I've decided against the black Sandman stripes. Going to go with colours, but can't decide which set. Leaning toward the DY3 (Yellow, Orange, Mid Red) - HZ at the moment.

But then I go and look at DY2 (Orange, Bright Blue, Blue) - HX, HZ and think that would be cool as well. I've got a small model ute with a blue stripe, certainly doesn't offend me.

Early in the process I'd scored a set of SAAS buckets for it. Given I'm a bit old and round nowadays, they were a bit difficult to climb in & out of.

So picked up these Autotecnica buckets off Marketplace for around half price. Basically brand new, and a much better fit for old fat blokes.

I gotta say, it looks great as it is. I'd go no stripes. Particularly if you sound half hearted about it. The plus is it a hot ute as is and isn't pretending to be something it ain't. Believe me, put the stripes on and you'll get sick of answering 'No it's not a real one'

I vote HQ/J Black without Sandman name decals, just the eyebrows'.
Or your original idea of just plain black HX/Z Hockey Sticks again no Sandman name decals.

Decided to go with DY3. If anyone needs / wants a black profile cut set for cheap let me know.

Managed to finally get some clear on it this weekend. Will start bolting bits back onto it through the week and hopefully be able to take it for a drive next weekend after almost 2 years.
