6 inch wide..yes you can go wider but i usually run 205s on the front as it puts less strain on the front end components and makes them a nicer thing to drive..personal preferance but its worked for me for 30 years..

I agree. The best driving HQ-WB's i've ever owned running 14" rims have been with 14x6 fronts with 205/60/14 tyres and 14x7 or 14x8 rear with 235/60/14 or 245/60/14 tyres. On Toranas I ran 14x7 with 245/50/14 and 14x8 with 265/50/14 but HQ-WB don't drive as well with these sizes.

currently looking at Maxxis HT760 for front sandman 6" rims 235/60/14 and for the rear 7" USA 14" rims 245/60/14 from your comments I take it that you are sugesting that the 235 are to wide for the sandman rim.I realise the tyre placard recomends 205/70HR14.The above tyres have white writing on then .If i didn't want white writting i could put UA610 on the front in 205/60/14 or 215/60/14

235/60/14 do fit 6" rims, but they are too big on the front. For me they have always grabbed the tab on the guard above the tyre and cut the tyre or damaged the guard. They are normally OK if you don't lower the front, but for some reason everyone wants to lower them to silly levels, and lowered or not 205/60/14 work well. HZ and WB handle and drive better at normal or just under normal ride height anway! If you want wider fronts 245/50/14 work better, but the problem is you have to use 7" rims and they look wider than 245/60/14 on 7" rims, so you end up having to run 275/60/15 or 265/50/14 on the rear but both of these really need 8" rims, which end up too big for the back (except on tonners).
Whenever I buy tyres with white letters it is easy to get rid of them, just face the white letters inwards!

I run 235 60 Hankooks on 7" fronts and 235 60 on 8" rear. They are hotwire wheels. 235 fill the guards out well front and rear. This is at a standard ride height. The only reason they are not 8" on the front is because thats what i got second hand.
Just a problem I had when it was insured with NRMA, no insurance with 8" wheels.
I think I will run 225 on the gts wheels as 235 are probably too big really for a 6" rim.
I had 225 60 on 15" by 7" Simmons wheels on my old wb and it was way lighter in the steering with them on it than the standard wheels it had originally.

So if I use this tyre which I am talking about, it would be no white writing, probably UA610 on the front, in 215-60-14 and HT760, and 235-60-14 on the rear which is basically the same tread pattern on the two tyres.
