the last time i paid near 400 a tyre was for some 315/35/17s for my vq statesman 1 tonner...i use second hand tyres off the wrecks in my yard for my 14 and 15 inch cars..![]()
Now just to sum things up if I put 235x60x14 on the 6 inch rims with 25mm below standed springs will I have any issues,She is power steer with a complete rebuilt front end(tie rods, ball joints, etc)There will be new springs and shocks,I am looking at putting Konis on her with cobra springs.
Cheers Kiwivan
ps or has anyone else got a suggestion as I want to make it ride quite well(for a 70's van)
i would buy 215 / 65 /14 for 14 x 6 GTS rims. run them all round....
my second choice would be 205/ 65 /14
don't go any wider than 225 on a 6 inch as the tyres baloon out too much, and i have found 50 and to a lesser extend 60 series tyres on old holdens up front make them dart all over the road a bit - but yeah, particularly with 50 series...
50 series tyres wear unevenly too i have found, i often find them with 80 percent tread with the shoulder down to the canvas.
this is to do with set up i know, but finding that set up is difficult.
225 / 235 is more for a 7' rim
if you go wide up front, it highlights how good or bad your top steering control arm rubbers are...
