Agree Blocker. Commercials had no intrusion bars. I remember dad's WB van in 1983/4 having a fork back into the door. Old door had no bar.

hmmm bit strange. My HZ Sandman Ute has the bars. Door I believe to be original as the orginal paint was under them. They did not look to be resprayed. Also had the over spray on the inside etc. hmmm.

commercial vehicles did not have intrusion bars..it was not a mandatory adr until around the late 80s for all commercials..that includes people carriers like taragos..
the factory that produced your hz may have run out of commercial doors..they would not stop the line for something like that so it may well have had passenger car doors fitted...who would know????

Plenty of sedans, wagons etc in the wreckers back in the mid to late 80's..... not too hard to find one in the same colour as your ute to replace rusty or dented doors....:Chin:

Saddle Tan Matallic? hmmm not very common thats for sure! There was signs of the orginal blackouts etc also.....

Where they an option at all maybe?

I seen this descussion a few times now about these doors. But to be honest im about 95% sure they would be the originals. Many signs that of it.

they would not have been an option..like i said they would not stop the production line if they ran out of non intrusion bar doors...

Maybe not very common today but there were plenty around back in the 70's and 80's. I used to visit the local wreckers regularly back in the 80's and there were rows and rows of HQ to WB in all variants and colours. i am talking 100's of cars and they are all now re-cycled Hyundai's etc.... This was just in Brisbane... let alone wreckers in the other larger major cities.

Just because they aren't a common colour today doesn't mean they were uncommon back in the day. Unfortunately they were all crushed in the late 90's when the price of scrap metal skyrocketed.....
