    Question for the "Gearbox gurus"

    Hypothetical question!!

IF i had a M20,M21 or M22 COULD i take the gears out, swap them with a set from a 3 speed and replace the 4th gear with a pair of gears from something with an overdrive?

I have never seen inside a manual gearbox so i don't know if this would be possible.

It was just a thought, rather then changing diffs (from say 3.08 to 2.78) and then POSSIBLY give a better rev range between gears compared to a M21 with a 2.78

    In theory yes.

    Read here. http://www.m-22.com/m22/

But not using available bits, you'd have to make your own as has been done in the link.

These are cheaper but not overdrive style.

Seriously thinking about getting Cainy to bring one in for me. M22 that is, for the 427 HK project.
