    weight of sandman/panelvan

    hey folks
    as the title suggests, what is the correct weight of a sandman/panelvan?
    ive found this data, but doesnt actually state the panelvan weight.

    * Belmont: 2950lb (1338kg)
    * Kingswood: 2950lb (1338kg)
    * Monaro Coupe: 2950lb (1338kg)
    * Monaro LS Coupe: 2950lb (1338kg)
    * Premier Sedan: 3000lb (1360kg)
    * Monaro GTS: 3150lb (1429kg)
    * For Station Wagons, add 130lb (59kg)
    * For V8 engine, add 90lb (41kg)
    its based on a HQ those specs. from here http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au...ifications.htm

    Use V8 XX7 HZ van as example. GVW is 2000kg, carrying capacity is 500kg. So weight will be 1500kg. They don't work out exactly like that though. Estimated HZ XX7 is 1541kg, XU3 is 1544kg (from sales brochure).

    back in the 60s and 70s a lot of the time weights quoted by manufacturers were dry weights..in other words less oil,water and petrol..
    then they quote horsepower as gross..in other words at the flywheel with no accessories,alternater,power steer pump etc...
    and then when joe average adds these together he thinks its a lot more power to weight ...
    the only real way to get the weight of your van is to take it over a weigh bridge as each vehicle will be different ..add dirt,add lpg,add a matress and paneling etc etc..:knockout:

    Just look at dirt bike claimed weights to see the amazing "weigh lighter" brand of scales at work.
